7. THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD THE CREATOR
Part Six - The Institutes of the Christian Religion

What's On This Page:

Preamble:

In this seventh lesson you will continue to consider 'The Knowledge of God the Creator,' which is book one of 'The Institutes of the Christian Religion.' For this lesson you will be required to read chapter 13 (Parts 16-29) of book one. The best approach is to read the chapter first, and then to read it again with the questions before you.

7.1 IN SCRIPTURE, FROM THE CREATION ONWARD, WE ARE TAUGHT ONE ESSENCE OF GOD, WHICH CONTAINS THREE PERSONS (Chapter 13, Parts 16-29)

Questions:

Does the Bible declare a unity in God? If so, explain how there are three Persons in the One God? How does Christian baptism declare the Unity of God?

How does Scripture indicate that there are distictions within the Trinity? How are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit distinct from one another?

According to Calvin, what was the error of Servetus regarding the Trinity? What does Scripture teach on this matter?

Is Calvin right when he says, 'Thus God without particularization is unbegotten; and the Father also in respect to his person is unbegotten?' Explain why you answered as you have?

NOTE: If you wish to email me regarding your answers to this lesson, please copy and paste them into an email (Attachments will not be opened). I will then get back to you as soon as I can (expect a delay due to various committments).
