Preamble:

In this third lesson you will continue to consider 'The Knowledge of God the Creator' which is book one of 'The Institutes of the Christian Religion.' For this lesson you will be required to read chapter 5 of book one. The best approach is to read these chapters first, and then to read them again with the questions before you.



3.1 THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD SHINES FORTH IN THE FASHIONING OF THE UNIVERSE AND THE CONTINUING GOVERNMENT OF IT (Chapter 5)

Questions:

How is creation a source of knowledge concerning God? What can be learn't about God from a consideration of creation?


Can knowledge of God be gained by a consideration of man? Explain the reason for your answer. What dangers lurk here for man?


How can the way things 'pan out' reveal what God is like? Can you think of any examples here?


With all the evidence of God that is present in creation, why is it that so few acknowledge Him? Can man be excused by claiming that he didn't know God existed? Explain your answer.


Can the unbeliever gain true knowledge of God through the study of creation? Give reasons for your answer?
